How We Do It
Dog training is a team effort. Successful training relies on more than just the dog; it requires dedication and consistency from the owner. As with most endeavors, successful training will require plenty of time and dedication. Acme Canine’s training techniques are based on evaluating the personality of your dog and your wants and needs. From this we formulate an appropriate training plan to successfully train your dog. Your dog will actually 'tell us' how to train him!
In order to create a successful training program, an assessment of your dog is required prior to training. The canine assessment is a one-hour session during which an Acme Canine certified trainer asks a number of questions in order to obtain background on your dog as well as learn what your goals and needs are. In addition we observe the dynamics of your dog in his home setting and his interactions between family members and determine your dog's personality and temperament. With this information we can give you tips and advice as well as design a specific training plan to successfully coach you in obtaining the well-mannered dog you desire.
All of Acme Canine’s training is accomplished without drugs or physical punishment. We use a combination of canine learning theory, canine psychology, and canine behavior modification (through counseling and instruction) to humanely and gently teach you and your dog the dog handling skills that will result in a strong and positive relationship.
We believe when working with a dog it is important for the trainer to educate the owner not just on the ‘how’ of things but also the ‘why.’ We do this by providing a variety of training options and training tools to meet the needs of your dog and fit your lifestyle and abilities. Our appointments are scheduled to accommodate, providing services every day of the week.
