Canine Good Citizen / Therapy Dog
"Acme Canine had two pupils—me and my dog. The training was invaluable help for both of us—we're both firmly planted on the road to success. I recommend Acme Canine whole-heartedly for guidance in developing an obedient family-friendly dog."

During this 6-week course, dog owners will learn what it takes to have a well-behaved dog and respected member of the community. Areas covered include sitting politely for petting, welcoming grooming, walking politely on a loose leash, sit and down on command/stay in place, coming when called, reacting politely around dogs and distractions as well as the dog maintaining its training and good manners when left with a trusted person. The class is specifically designed to have your dog achieve therapy dog status.
The Canine Good Citizen Program is a two-part program that teaches responsible dog ownership to owners and basic good manners to both purebred and mixed breed dogs. CGC is the basic training for good manners that every therapy dog should have. After CGC, potential therapy dogs can be screened by therapy organizations. You will receive verbal instruction, handouts and visual demonstrations. An optional noncompetitive CGC Test is available on the last class day. All dogs passing the test will be eligible to receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club.
